Frequently Asked Questions

What is Arena Scheduling?

Online arena scheduling is a way for students to create their own class schedules using their Student Access account on Skyward.

Why are we changing?

Students will be given the control to create their own schedule rather than the computer creating their schedule for them. Students will know their unofficial schedule by the end of the current school year.

Will it be easier?

Online arena scheduling will require a little more work from our students. They will input their course requests in Pathfinder in February, and at a later designated time, build their own schedules in Skyward. We believe students will appreciate the increased feeling of control over creating their own schedules rather than having a computer choose the order of their schedule.

When can I create my schedule?

Registration for the 2019-2020 school year will take place this fall. All registration will be conducted through your student’s Pathfinder and Skyward accounts. Essentially, this is a 3-phase process:

Phase 1

Student submits course selections and alternates in Pathfinder.

Phase 2

Counselors verify course selections and master schedule is finalized.

Phase 3

Students access their Skyward account and create a schedule using Arena Scheduling. Designated days will be given to students to register based on graduating class so that upper classmen have first choice in selections.

What if I missed my registration window?

Students who do not complete their schedule in Arena Scheduling by the deadline will have a schedule created by school personnel.

Do I get to pick my teachers?

No. Teachers’ names will not be made available during the online arena scheduling process. Staffing often changes so selecting a teacher would not guarantee that a student would have a particular teacher on his/her schedule.

How do I know if what I am requesting is what I need for graduation?

Counselors will be going over graduation requirements with students at school and reviewing all students’ requested courses to ensure alignment with graduation requirements.

If I create my schedule, will the school change it?

Counselors will make adjustments to schedules as needed based on course prerequisites, class size, and educational record.

Tryouts and what if I don’t make it

Students will create their schedule as if they are going to make the sport/team they are interested. Students can include numerous alternates, and will have the option of substituting those classes in the event that a student does not make the sport/team of their choosing.

Prerequisites

It is the student’s responsibility to refer to the Roo Register online to determine his/her eligibility in his/her course selection process.

I’ve submitted my schedule requests in Pathfinder but I’d like to make a change. How can I do that?

Students may adjust their schedule requests online through their Pathfinder Student Access account anytime during the request window,

Will I be able to schedule dual credit courses?

Yes. You will be able to schedule dual classes in the same manner as your other course selections.

What if I don’t have Internet access?

Students will have access to the library computer lab during study hall to make changes. Also, WHS will be open two evenings for access to computer labs for Arena Scheduling.

If I have questions about Arena Scheduling, who should I contact?

Answers to your questions about Pathfinder and Arena Scheduling can be answered by contacting your counselor directly.

When will I know my schedule and teachers?

Students will pick up their official schedule that includes teacher names during the summer prior to school starting. Information about schedule availability will be provided at a later date.
