Information Regarding Today's Lockout at the NGC Campus

The following message has been emailed to all NGC families:

Dear Families,

We are writing to let you know the Ninth Grade Center campus went into lockout this morning shortly after 11:00 am. The lockout was initiated as a precautionary measure because of activity outside of our campus and lasted less than 5 minutes.

As a reminder, a lockout occurs when something occurs outside the school building. This procedure allows us to secure our building while students and staff continue learning inside the building while following our normal procedures and routines.

Weatherford ISD places the safety of our students and staff as our top priority and we have several processes in place to ensure a safe environment for your child while they are in our care. We appreciate our students and the Ninth Grade Center staff for following appropriate safety procedures today.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reply to this email or contact the Ninth Grade Center at 817-598-2847.

Jennifer Bridges
Associate Principal

MelonVine Yearbooks -- Get YOURS before we SELL OUT!

We're sad with Friday's news from the Governor that we will not be returning to school this year, news about the Prom being cancelled, and graduation plans in the air. We're heartbroken too, that we will not be able to mass distribute, in our traditional fashion, the MelonVine Yearbooks that we've created all year long especially for YOU! But...we have never been more thankful that we captured ALL there was of this year for YOU!

We do still have some yearbooks for sale, but you should know that we SELL OUT every year, and with the abrupt ending to this year and the cancellation of spring events, we'll SELL OUT even earlier than in years past.

Please don't wait until it's too late --- Order YOUR yearbook at this link here -- www.YearbookForever.com

Yearbooks will be delivered to the school on May 7th, and Mr. Kidd and Mrs. Gilley are working together this week to develop a plan for distribution to you. Please watch your email for details.

Weatherford ISD Schools Closed for the Remainder of the 2019-2020 School Year

Dear Weatherford ISD Families –

Today, Texas Governor Greg Abbott amended his Executive Order, calling for all schools in the state of Texas to close for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. This means Weatherford ISD facilities will remain closed to the public and all events/activities will be canceled.

Weatherford ISD will continue offering distance learning to all students through the end of this school year. The final day of distance learning will be Thursday, May 28th. We will also continue offering free meals to children of age 18 and under.

We know this decision may be disappointing to our students and that it raises many questions, particularly for our senior class and their families. We expect to receive information and guidance from Mike Morath, Texas Commissioner of Education, next week regarding graduation ceremonies.

Weatherford ISD is an amazing school district with staff who are dedicated to caring for our students and families. Our staff and our families have risen to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 closing.

We thank you for your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we work continue to provide for our students.

Rod Townsend
Interim Superintendent
