Weatherford ISD Schools Closed for the Remainder of the 2019-2020 School Year
Dear Weatherford ISD Families –
Today, Texas Governor Greg Abbott amended his Executive Order, calling for all schools in the state of Texas to close for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. This means Weatherford ISD facilities will remain closed to the public and all events/activities will be canceled.
Weatherford ISD will continue offering distance learning to all students through the end of this school year. The final day of distance learning will be Thursday, May 28th. We will also continue offering free meals to children of age 18 and under.
We know this decision may be disappointing to our students and that it raises many questions, particularly for our senior class and their families. We expect to receive information and guidance from Mike Morath, Texas Commissioner of Education, next week regarding graduation ceremonies.
Weatherford ISD is an amazing school district with staff who are dedicated to caring for our students and families. Our staff and our families have risen to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 closing.
We thank you for your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we work continue to provide for our students.
Rod Townsend
Interim Superintendent
