Weatherford High School Ninth Grade Center receives a $500.00 gift from local business.

WHS will hold the annual Roo Elective Expo on Monday, Nov. 16th from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the WHS Cafeteria. This event provides students, 8th through 11th grades, and their parents an opportunity to speak to teachers about our many elective classes. Teachers from AP classes as well as Career & Technical Education, Fine Arts, Dual Credit, Foreign Language and more will be on hand to discuss what their courses have to offer! Many of our clubs will be represented as well. Our students will be submitting course requests before December 1st so counselors will be available in the computer lab for parents to check out the courses their students have chosen for next year. Don’t miss this chance to get all the information you need to make good choices!

Starting November 10th through November 19th, there will be a competition between 7th period classes sponsored by student leadership. The challenge is for classes to collect various items to send overseas to the troops in Afghanistan. Some of the items recommended for donation include:
• Soap
• Towels
• Wash Rags
• Books (preferably action or mystery)
• Crossword Puzzle books
• Sudoku Books
• Ziplocs
• Packaged razors
• Band-aids
• Deodorant
• Wet Wipes
• Shampoo
• Conditioner

Bring these items to your 7th period class beginning next Tuesday. These will be sent to the troops in time for Christmas. Each item brought will count as one point, and the 7th period class with the most points will receive a pizza party hosted by the Charity Student Leadership Committee.

Also, remember to wear your jeans to school on November 11th to support your troops in honor of Veteran’s Day because it is Celebrate Military Family Appreciation Month.

Students interested in taking the PSAT should register online (click the title for the link) and bring $15.00 to Dr. Thatcher. The deadline to sign up is September 25th. PSAT test is October 14th.
